When you value your employees they know it. They work hard because they do not want to let you down. Foster the sense that your employees are all part of something bigger than themselves, not just working for a pay cheque but to keep the whole team afloat. Enroll them in one of the many London team building events.

Try a sports day for starters. In particular, choose an exercise which makes sports into something goofy, making the whole process a lot of fun. Teams will learn to co-operate, work in sync, gain new skills in a short space of time and follow a leader with something like a country-themed competition. Teams will learn activities associated with certain countries such as skiing or drinking beer like the Canadians, tasting wine like the French or pub-hopping like the British. Even gain the skills to compete in a real sport such as dragon boating. Here, team mates really need to follow a cox and stay on the same rhythm.

Building a model roller coaster or bridge takes time, effort and patience. You also need a leader to delegate tasks, someone to take charge at critical moments, otherwise chaos can ensue. This is true in the work place as well as while building a model of the London Eye. Learn how to choose a strong leader or even how to be one, while others brush up on their ability to follow instructions.

While a lecture will simply bore your employees, an exercise in role taking and following instructions should be more fun laid out as a treasure hunt. Themes may include pirates with actors dressing the part while groups race to find a treasure chest full of gold. Locate a briefcase full of fake money just like in a bank heist movie. Choose someone to set direction, another to keep track of items found. Explore the interests and abilities of your team with a pub quiz element added to your treasure hunt where someone may surprise you with her knowledge of astronomy or geology.

Dance acts demonstrate how fabulous a team can be to watch when they pay close attention to directions and to each other. Set your team the task of learning to dance the cha cha, salsa or fox trot. At the end of their Team building event your employees will perform, and you can see for yourself how worthwhile the expense was.

A fantastic team building idea is where you become your own Mr Colombo. Become a crime scene investigator or solve a murder. Learn from retired professionals how crimes are solved in the real world. Practice keeping an open mind, seeing all sides of a situation and gathering evidence before arriving at an answer.
