Floors are frequently the most abused part of any business or home. They are also the most often ignored. But when floors become damaged or worn out, they become dangerous. Industrial and business space managers frequently choose an Epoxy Flooring contractor to refinish the company or warehouse floor space, making the floor space safer and more attractive.

Refinishing floor space with an epoxy floor compound is an effective way to refresh walkways and improve worker safety. Even in the basement and garage, homeowners often select these materials to refinish garage and basement floors.

Interestingly, color is a major consideration when choosing to refinish heavily used floor space. Of course in the basement or garage, color can impact the value of the property. However in a warehouse or industrial space, color takes on a more important role. Adding contrast to the worker's view is an important consideration in improving overall plant safety.

How does a homeowner or warehouse operator select a floor refinishing product or process? Fortunately, there really are only two main considerations. The floor material should be OSHA approved and be a 'Polyaspartic' compound.

OSHA approval is necessarily difficult to acquire. Usually calculated as a coefficient of friction for wet and dry conditions, companies and materials that are OSHA approved have passed a rigorous testing process. Purchasers can be confident when purchasing from an OSHA approved product that the finished floor will provide years of useful service.

"Polyaspartic" is a technical term referring to the most recent development in floor refinishing compounds. Polyaspartic flooring material is 100% UV proof and sets (cures) in as little as four hours. This last consideration is important to industrial managers who can't afford to take the plant or warehouse off-line for extended periods of time.

Specialized training is usually required of those that handle this material on a regular basis. Although some home project entrepreneurs will attempt installation themselves, most will seek experienced contractors to do the job. Securing professional help when working with these compounds is insurance that the job will be done well.

Professional installation requires a contractor that has experience handling difficult materials as well as the ability to work around existing fixtures and equipment. Contractors with experience in the industry usually have the manpower to make the process run quickly - even when working to refinish large areas. Good contractors will provide for good ventilation during the installation process as well. As epoxy and polyaspartic materials are not commonly handled materials, contractors with experience can decrease the risk of improper application.

Pre-purchase research into the best types of floor refinishing materials can be time well spent. It can also ensure a good return on the investment. A good contractor and good, approved materials can deliver solid value.
