Safety is of paramount importance in the warehouse. This is why, out of the thousands of warehouse supplies a company will have to sell, all of those that pose any potential safety risk have to comply with OSHA safety standards and many of their products will specifically be safety products.

LPG gas is indispensable in most industrial and warehouse settings. As long as it is stored and used wisely, it is safe, but because of the potential dangers inherent in LPG, it is imperative that it is stored safely. For outdoor storage, it must also be theft proof. Aluminum mesh cylinder lockers ensure safety and security. Inside the warehouse or factory, gas cylinders should be securely held in place against the wall using stationary cylinder holders.

Special double-welded, orange enamel painted cylinder pallets have been designed for transporting cylinders with a forklift. These are ideal for both storage and handling of LPG cylinders in quantities of up to eight at a time. While the cylinders are held firmly in place in the specially designed pallet, they are also easily accessible from either side.

In spite of all efforts to prevent fires, the possibility of a fire must always be considered. No warehouse is complete without a number of easily accessible fire extinguishers placed strategically throughout the warehouse premises. Multi-purpose mono-ammonium phosphate fire extinguishers are the ideal solution to your needs, because one extinguisher will put out all three classes of fires.

When the lights go out in a warehouse due to a power failure, everyone is in immediate danger. Emergency lights are essential pieces of safety equipment. These lights should be installed above all exits and wherever a power outage would significantly reduce visibility, even in the daytime. Emergency lights recharge themselves and turn on automatically when the power supply is cut off from them.

Emergency signs are also indispensable in the warehouse. These include exit signs, elevated signs that point alert staff to the fire extinguishers and other signs need to be highly visible both in well-illuminated areas and in pitch darkness. Self-activated and self-charging glow-in-the-dark signs can retain their illuminosity for up to eight hours, even in the absence of a light source.

Among the other essential safety warehouse supplies are a variety of wearing apparel. Hard hats, protective clothing, dust and particle face masks and protective gloves are just some of the items that must be available for use as needed.

While OSHA compliance is mandatory, many safety features on the better warehouse supplies actually exceed OSHA safety requirements. Aside from supplies that are designed strictly for safety, everything that can pose a danger must at least meet OSHA standards. The wire cage that protects the forklift operator is just one example of this.

Keeping track of all the necessary warehouse safety supplies and staying current with applicable laws can be a confusing and time-consuming process for a warehouse owner or manager. That's just one more reason why it is better to deal with one large warehouse supplies company that has a reputation for expertise in the industry.
