As an employer you interview people hoping that you will select the person who is just right for the position. While there are many different people out there vying for jobs you may have only one or two positions to fill and looking through all those applications and setting up a multitude of interviews can be very time consuming. In order to save you time there are some things that you can see just by looking through the job applications.

You will need to consider a variety of things before you call to schedule an interview. Looking through an application there are some things to look, as if this person has been through an extensive work history. This can be a real red flag. Although anyone can be fired from a company that is reducing a person with a broken work record is probably not the best candidate for any job. These people probably lack some social skills and abilities that are not perceived at first sight.

Then look on the application. If it is not complete and that the person does not meet all the required information, then you really should make this request aside and do not call immediately. A person can not properly complete a job application can not follow instructions and that could cause problems for you in the future.

Then focus your attention to the part of the application that lists specialized training. You can find a lot about what a person knows by looking at this section. Information about industry related trainings that they have taken part in, as well as computer knowledge and business related training such as Six Sigma can be listed in this section as well. This will not only let you know more about the employee this will also let you know if they are the type of person in search of additional knowledge which is always something that you want to find in any employee that you are considering hiring.

Looking at their job applications in these key areas, you can quickly decide which employees to call for an interview and applications to hang for a rainy day. Making the most of the staff resources to recruit the best candidates for the position, you will not want to interview everyone that applies only to those you think are the best people for starting businesses.
